350.org has condemned plans by the Trump administration to remove limits on planet-warming pollution from US power plants, warning that the move would put climate and public health at greater risk.
The announcement, expected at the G20 Energy Abundance Ministerial in Houston, Texas, comes as oil prices surge amid heightened geopolitical tensions and disruption to global energy supplies underlining the risks of continued dependence on fossil fuels.

“While the world is on track to pass 1.5°C and communities are facing wildfires, droughts and increasingly extreme weather, the Trump administration is choosing to double down on the fossil fuels driving this crisis. It is absurd to roll back protections on power plant pollution at precisely the moment we should be accelerating the transition away from coal and gas. However, this absurdity is to be expected as the EPA’s previous repeal of the landmark endangerment finding has given free reign to fast track these disastrous decisions with no oversight.”
“Climate change is already impacting everyone, while people continue to pay the price of fossil fuel dependence at the pump and through their energy bills. The answer is abundant, clean, affordable energy and not giving fossil fuel companies another licence to pollute.”
