Heres how Murray Wilmerding tells the story: Griswold Point was settled 1638. Generations have lived here and played onthe beach. As a child my grandmother and her siblings stood by the rock. As achild my mother taught me to swim to it. My children and I dive off it at hightide. You can see clearly see the effects of rising water and erosion.
